West Virginia Animal Rescue (WVAR) is an independent 501c3 non-profit whose primary purpose is to support the animals and people in need in West Virginia and the Tri-State areas, as well as the Huntington Cabell Wayne Animal Shelter.
WVAR’s status as a non-profit makes it possible for supporters like you to make tax-deductible donations
.
Faced with the distressing challenge of financial hardship, many West Virginians are being forced to surrender their pets; WVAR addresses this issue by filling the support gaps for pet owners, actively working to prevent pet surrender and empowering our community through vital veterinary care and support.
We’ve started innovative programs that help our under-resourced community, helping people and animals alike. When we saw our region urgently needed increased access to affordable vet care because there were zero low-cost vet facilities, we knew we could help.
Our goal is to save lives while enriching our community, by providing the services and resources needed to keep companion animals and their humans together.
Our team is made up of dedicated animal lovers who are passionate about providing the best care possible to the animals in our shelter. Led by Courtney Proctor-Cross and the West Virginia Animal Rescue Board of Directors, we work tirelessly to ensure that each animal receives the love and attention they deserve.
Adopting a pet is easy! Simply visit the Adoptions Page for the Huntington Cabell Wayne Animal Shelter, which is managed by WVAR.
